The Beginning of My News Blog
In 2023, my friend Mohit Verma and I had a dream. We both wanted to start something in the online space where we could provide genuine value and also build a source of income. News blogging was something we found both interesting and powerful. But we didn’t want to follow the traditional way of writing news every hour manually. We wanted to build something smarter, something that could run on autopilot. That’s when the idea of automating a news blog came to our minds.
What Is Blog Automation?
Blog automation means setting up your blog in such a way that it updates regularly, even when you’re not doing everything manually. You can use tools and software to write content, schedule posts, find trending topics, and even share them on social media all automatically. In simple words, you build a system that works for you in the background while you focus on the bigger picture.
Choosing the Right Niche
We decided to focus on news that matters to the youth trending stories, technology updates, positive news, inspirational stories, and government schemes. These are the topics that people search every day. We used Google Trends and Quora to understand what people are curious about. This helped us create content that not only ranked in search engines but also connected emotionally with readers.
The Tools That Made It Possible
For writing articles, we started using AI writing tools like ChatGPT. We would enter the news idea or headline, and the AI would give us a clean, readable article in seconds. We never copy-pasted content. Instead, we always edited it to make it sound more natural and valuable.
We also used tools like:
- WordPress for managing the website
- Rank Math SEO plugin for on-page optimization
- Canva for creating simple yet effective featured images
- Zapier and Feedly for automating content flow and topic discovery
- Buffer and OneSignal for social media and push notification automation
Creating a Posting Schedule
We planned to post 14 to 15 articles every day. Instead of writing them manually, we would create them in bulk during weekends and schedule them using WordPress. This gave us time to focus on other parts of the business, like design, SEO, and growth strategy.

Where the Money Comes From
After 3 months of consistent posting and SEO work, we applied for Google AdSense. Within a few weeks, we got approved, and ads started appearing on our blog. This was the first milestone in our blogging journey. Later, we added more income sources:
- Affiliate Marketing: We promoted books, gadgets, and online courses related to our content.
- Sponsored Posts: Brands started reaching out to publish their articles on our blog.
- Direct Ads: Small businesses bought banner ads on our homepage.
- Push Notification Monetization: We used platforms like iZooto to earn from notifications.
Within 6 months, our blog was generating ₹60,000 to ₹1,00,000 per month. And all of this was happening through automation.
The Importance of SEO in Automating My News Blog
We didn’t just post articles and forget. We focused heavily on SEO. From keyword research to writing meta descriptions, from adding internal links to compressing images every small thing was done to improve search rankings. We used free tools like Ubersuggest and Google Search Console to monitor performance.
Our golden rule was write for humans, optimize for Google. We kept our language simple, used short paragraphs, and always added value to the reader.
Teamwork and Delegation
As the blog started growing, we built a small team. Some members focused on content, others on editing, and a few handled tech stuff. Even though we used automation, having a human touch in the final content helped us maintain quality. We trained our team to use the tools, and soon, we had a system that ran like a machine but with a heart.
Lessons I Learned : Automating My News Blog
One of the biggest lessons I learned is that consistency is more important than perfection. Some of our early articles were not perfect, but we kept publishing. Slowly, we improved. Another lesson was always respect your readers. Don’t publish clickbait or fake news. It may give you traffic for a day, but you will lose trust forever.

Yes! If I can do it with zero background in journalism, you can do it too. Start with a small blog. Choose a niche you care about. Use free tools to write and publish. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect. The internet rewards action.

- A domain from Namecheap or GoDaddy (₹500 – ₹800)
- Hosting from Hostinger or Bluehost (₹2,000 – ₹3,000/year)
- WordPress for blog setup (Free)
- AI tools like ChatGPT for content (Free or low-cost)
- Canva for thumbnails (Free)
All this can be done under ₹5,000. Your only real investment is your time and creativity.
